The inaugural Getting There Together event is a signature citywide celebration of San Francisco seniors and adults with disabilities. Presented by CASE (Coalition of Agencies Serving the Elderly) in partnership with Livable City/Sunday Streets, the Department of Aging and Adult Services, Age and Disability Friendly San Francisco, and the Dignity Fund Coalition, the event will bring together seniors, people with disabilities, service providers, City officials, and the general public to celebrate and ensure San Francisco is a great place to live and age.

Taking place during Sunday Streets Tenderloin in Civic Center — the heart of San Francisco — the 2019 Getting There Together Celebration will feature:

Main Stage (Fulton Street Steps of the Main Library)
Seniors and people with disabilities will take the stage to share their talents. This 5 hours of free, fun programming will include both professional music and dance performances and community group recitals. The line-up includes:

  • 11:00 am: Kotobuki Taiko Drummers
  • 11:15 am: San Francisco Dance Group
  • 11:55 am: AXIS Dance Company (Marc Brew and Yuko Monden Juma)
  • 12:10 pm: Curry Senior Center’s Samahang Pinoy
  • 12:30 pm: Sunny Line Dance Group
  • 1:00 pm: Community Music Center’s Older Adult Choirs — 300+ singers!
  • 1:45 pm: Los Rumberos de MNC
  • 1:55 pm: Dr. George W. Davis Steel Drum Band
  • 2:15 pm: Zach K
  • 2:25 pm: Richmond Senior Center Dancers
  • 2:40 pm: Wake-up Call by Sounds from the Ground Drumming Group
  • 3:00 pm: Dr. Mwanza and Chocolate Medicine

Interactive Resource Fair
One-stop shop for information about housing, transportation and street safety, financial planning, physical and mental health, healthy eating, fitness, and other resources that all San Franciscans need to thrive.

All Abilities Open Air Gymnasium (Intersection of Larkin and Fulton)
Taking place in and around Civic Center Plaza, the All Abilities Open Air Gymnasium will feature a range of accessible classes throughout the day.

  • 11:00 am: Line dancing with Allen Isidro
  • 11:30 am: Brain/Body Fitness with Dianna Rowley (BORP)
  • 12:00 pm: Always Active Senior Fitness with Genny Pinzon
  • 12:30 pm: Bollywood Dance Fitness with Shruthi Reddy
  • 1:00 pm: Chair Yoga with Armando Luna 
  • 1:30 pm: Hip Hop Fitness with Carah Herring
  • 2:00 pm: Body of Sound with Alyssa DeCaro
  • 2:30 pm: Always Active Senior Fitness with Genny Pinzon
  • 3:00 pm: Dance Fitness/Dance Party with Dianna Rowley (BORP)

Frequently Asked Questions

What am I allowed to do as an exhibitor?

Sunday Streets is open to any activation as long as it follows the Sunday Streets mission and programming guidelines. You can download the guidelines in the quick links section.

Can I sample food?

Sunday Streets allows food sampling as long as it follows the guidelines required by the San Francisco Dept. of Public Health and Sunday Streets. The application and guidelines can be found in the quick links section.

Can I sell my products or bring in an outside vendor?

Sunday Streets is intended to showcase and promote foot traffic for local brick-and-mortar businesses along the car-free event route and thus does not allow outside vendors or fundraising, except at dedicated Market Squares featuring small/local vendors at select events. (Email vendors@livablecity.org to find out more). To keep Sunday Streets accessible to the diverse communities it serves, all other activations, activities and exhibits are always free to the public. (If you are a small merchant located on the route, please fill out the exhibitor application above.)

Can I use amplified sound?

Sunday Streets allows amplified sound when possible and as long as the sound remains below 70 dB. Performers will need to complete an amplified sound agreement before the event, found in the quick links section.

Can I use a generator?

Generators are allowed but only if the generator is less than 5 gallons and the route can accommodate the space.

Do I need insurance to participate?

Insurance is required when an activation is physical in nature. The guidelines can be downloaded in the quick links section.

How much space do I get? Can I get more?

A 10′ x 10′ space is reserved for exhibitors, but Sunday Streets is open to larger footprints. Please specify your required space in your exhibitor application and we will confirm if we can accommodate your needs.

When will I receive my placement and logistics information?

You will receive your logistics and placement information two weeks prior to the event.

I'm registering as a small nonprofit or community group. Is a tent included with my $35 registration fee?

Tents are not included with this package and are $200 extra. However, you may bring your own tent for free!

Can I get rental equipment from you?

Sunday Streets will provide one table and two chairs for all booths. Tents will be provided for the following exhibitors: Small Businesses that are not located on the route, City Agency, Large Nonprofit and Commercial.

Additional equipment (tents, tables, chairs) can be provided at an additional cost to the exhibitor. Please specify your needs in your application and Sunday Streets will confirm before the event.

Do you have electricity or water hookups?

Sunday Streets cannot provide electricity or water hookups.

Can I join with my community group or PTA?

Yes! Sunday Streets encourages participation from community, neighborhood and PTA groups. Simply complete the exhibitor application above.

Can I join with a band or performance group?

Yes! Sunday Streets loves to boogie in the street and encourages musical performances of any kind! Simply complete the exhibitor application above and download/sign the amplified sound agreement in the quick links section.

Can I join with a campaign or political club?

Sunday Streets encourages diversity of opinion and welcomes political organizations. Campaign activities take place exclusively in the Civic Engagement Portal, designed specifically to capture the energy and enthusiasm of local politics.

Can I join with my small business that's on the route?

Of course! Local merchant participation is encouraged, and Sunday Streets is proven to drive customers to your business.
