2019 Volunteer Shifts

Volunteering for Sunday Streets is a simple way to connect with your community, and a variety of roles mean there is something for everyone, regardless of physical ability. Spend a day in the sun as an Event Day volunteer, get the word out as a member of the Street Team, or help make the magic happen through work at the Sunday Streets office.

Adopt-an-Intersection

Fill a critical safety roles at Sunday Streets as crossing guards, and distribute materials or collect newsletter sign-ups.

Requirements: Standing for several hours

Adopt-a-Hub

Assist with marking and managing zone setup, control first-come- first-serve tent assignments, and help direct exhibitor placements within a zone.

2.5 hours
Requirements: Physical, including standing, lifting, carrying 25 lbs

Weekday Outreach

Get the word out by distributing materials to the neighborhood.

3 hours
Requirements: Walking

Volunteer Night

Help around the office with organizing, paperwork or light data entry.

3 hours
Requirements: Great for volunteers of all abilities

EVENT DAY

Booster Bear

Take donations, get newsletter sign-ups and distribute Activity Guides and surveys to power Sunday Streets.

Requirements: Outgoing with a passion for talking to people, great for all physical abilities

Crowd Counter

Count attendees and help Sunday Streets increase its impact.

3.5 hours
Requirements: Attention to detail, great for all physical abilities and those who prefer to work alone

Hub Equipment Assistant

Assist staff with moving equipment, setting up tables and chairs, monitoring inventory and collecting abandoned equipment.

2.5 hours
Requirements: Physical, including standing, lifting, carrying 25 lbs

Booth Assistant

Assist the Exhibitor Captain with checking in exhibitors.

Recycling Raven

Assist with correctly sorting waste into the appropriate Recology bin to ensure a sustainable event.

Requirements: Attention to detail, passion for waste management and the 3-bin system

Crossing Guard

Assist participants to safely cross intersections on the route where car traffic is allowed.

🚲 Route Rabbit | Setup

Help set up the route by moving barricades into place before Sunday Streets begins.

2.5 hours
Requirements: Bring your own bike. Able to lift and carry 25 lbs or more

🚲 Route Rabbit | Breakdown

Help move barricades at the end of Sunday Streets.

2.5 hours
Requirements: Bring your own bike. Able to lift and carry 25 lbs or more

Route Rabbit | Signage

Place signs on barricades and collect no-parking signs along the route.

Route Rabbit | Parking

Assist cars who need to access local residents or businesses to do so safely during the event and help Sunday Streets be a good neighbor.

Requirements: Trustworthy and reliable.

Captains

Exhibitor Captain | Check-In

Help manage exhibitor check-in: greet, assist with line control, record check-ins and fill out tickets.

Requirements: Leadership skills, attention to detail

Volunteer Captain | New & Group Volunteer

Distribute and collect waivers, distribute t-shirts and equipment, and give name tags to new/group volunteers.

Requirements: Leadership skills, attention to detail

Volunteer Captain | Check-In

Greet, assist with line control, check in volunteers and give name tags.

Requirements: Leadership skills, attention to detail

Zone Captain | AM ONLY

Help Sunday Streets get ready to go car-free by posting no-parking signs along the route.

Volunteer Night

Enjoy snacks and good company as you help prepare for Sunday Streets. Tasks may include prepping no-stopping signs, data entry, cleaning or organizing.
