San Francisco’s urban land use policy and advocacy nonprofit Livable City works to create a city of great streets and complete neighborhoods, where walking, bicycling, and transit are the best choices for most trips, where public spaces are beautiful, well-designed, and well-maintained, and where housing is more plentiful and more affordable.

Livable City also runs a number of programs, including Sunday Streets, Play Streets, and Neighborfest. These programs bring communities together, promoting healthy living and active transportation to create vibrant, healthy, connected communities across the city through the format of car-free streets.

Position Overview

Livable City is seeking to fill several Volunteer Managers positions to support event production at Sunday Streets Phoenix Day on October 17th, 2021.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Oversee volunteer check-in and assignments
  • Conduct onsite volunteer job and safety trainings
  • Supervise and provide additional trainings to all volunteers as needed
  • Work with Activity Hub and Event Volunteer Managers to setup information and check-in booth; ensure a tidy and responsive station throughout the day
  • Answer questions regarding Sunday Streets
  • Assist participants, volunteers, and exhibitors, as needed
Qualifications
  • Ability to attend all training sessions and Sunday Streets Phoenix Day (schedule listed above)
  • Proven experience managing volunteers and leading teams
  • Experience in event production (1 year minimum)
  • Capable of physically demanding work; ability to stand for more than 4 hours and lift 50 lbs
  • Friendly, customer-service attitude
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including volunteers, staff, partners, and members of the public

Position Overview

Livable City is seeking to fill several Route Managers positions to support event production at Sunday Streets Phoenix Day on October 17th, 2021.

Responsibilities to include:

  • Lead event-day route setup and breakdown plans
  • Ensure barricades and signage are properly setup; ensure street closure remains secure throughout the day
  • Manage and support setup/breakdown and barricade monitor volunteers
  • Work with the Logistics Manager and City personnel to ensure a safe and efficient street opening and closing
Qualifications
  • Ability to attend all training sessions and Sunday Streets Phoenix Day (schedule listed above)
  • Has their own bike; comfortable riding bike on city streets with vehicle
  • Capable of physically demanding work; ability to stand for more than 4 hours and lift 50 lbs
  • Experience in event production (1 year minimum)
  • Proven experience leading teams
  • Self-motivated with an ability to work independently and in teams
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including volunteers, staff, partners, and members of the public

  • Assist with setup/breakdown/supervision of volunteer and exhibitor check-in stations
